If Not So Change The Text In The Books!!!!
by Van De Sar
A New College education invariably benefits those who would have never had the opportunity and experience to attain higher education. This is usually minorities, if added up, are the majority in California. This is the underlying issue at this beloved institution. Various institutions in the state have faced similar problems rooted in such social conflicts, but theirs was the opposite. Students of color rose against unjust administrative treatment and but the efforts of a wealthy alumni managed to quell the conflicts before the juices seeped onto the saliva ridden tongues of The Weekly Press. Evidently New College does not have a wealthy alumni, and the students and alumni that are wealthy see New College’s efforts in communities ridden by violence as a racially driven initiative.
Yes, there have been problems with administration, evidently so. Surely, if we research the events at this school, there have been instances where a non-minority student received favorable treatment, by teachers complaining against the school. If we research this we shall find it.
I once overheard some students complaining that there were one or two teachers who were there as undercover FBI agents whose purpose was to reverse the progress within communities of color. Judging by the events that taken place in the last year and half or so, I no longer see this as just some student conspiracy theory. The student body has been split into obvious social affiliations, and this is what those teachers have taught us about Humanity??
At the time I attended New College, there was hardly a single minority teacher who taught minority politics, maybe except a token one or two, who were constantly walking the line. But, we are blind to this, because minorities progress when we cannot when the system is meant for us anyway. Our parents worked hard to keep us well fed and educated, so why should we uphold an unofficial affirmative action at New College when there are schools all over the country that do not have the same, schools we could have attended.
Minorities should not help themselves and save themselves, we should save them, is the rhetoric among us. If we want to uphold the vehicle of our destiny, in this manner, then we need to rewrite the past.
Who are we, that we point fingers at villains??

A New College graduate as well as an unofficial member of the distinguished and diverse alumni, I would like to say that the school has brought much emotional stress and trauma to us all. School administration through gross incompetence, mismanagement coupled with miscommunication with faculty and students, should be held totally accountable for the situation at this imprudent junction.
Crossroads, our community is at. But as we saddle the victims on the horse and fasten the noose on the branch; make sure that the horse is there and the noose is just as tight, when it is our turn. We have valid considerations in our animosity towards villains before us. Lest we be aware of the teachers who deserted us in the time of need, and their reasons are universally valid, but they left us and encouraged us to vilify, take note. Phlute is irrelevent, they are fighting for their own identity, which race plays a dominant role, and people on this site are buying into it, left, right and center. We have all bought into it and told them to keep the change. We are leaving out students of color, who gather and bicker, about their New College discontents, in small, minute numbers outside of mainstream student activity. We all know about this, deny it if you so wish.
Phlute has issues, major ones, blatantly obvious, but do not buy into race, which you obviously have, and Mr. Hamilton set you up for that. Duh!! All we are doing is justifying Phlutes blood thirsty agendas and Hamilton’s innocence. Looking at the writing on this site, who can blame them. Were such sorry sods aren’t we.
Analyze it deeper, because the situation is complicated.
Yes, power to the students from Darfur, who have experienced more abuse in Darfur than at New College, and try to explain to their fellow students that at least they can protest and argue with parties involved, without the fear of death, leaving family, friends and familiar terrain, indefinitely, without knowing their return. They speak simply, but we have sophisticated explanations as to how we do not understand this. Then we vilify?? Pathetic sods we are.
Meanwhile people are getting away with our schools downfall, our spiritual integrity. Sorry sods we are. The noose should be just as tight for lot that is us.
Extra cream and sugar for the core faculty and teachers who have stuck around, to continue with what school is about – teaching and learning. The future lies with them, and they have not deserted anyone.
As for the rest of us, we are a bunch of sorry sods. Unless we develop a multilateral approach to our issues, and not replicate the current state of affairs WORLDWIDE, (at least we all know about that) then we shall reach this junction again in a future stage in our lives. This is what we desire, this is what we are about. I hope not.
Creating a villain is becoming a villain. No??
